<abstract label="Abstract" encodinganalog="545">The Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) is a forum for presenting and discussing research and development achievements concerning the use of computer technologies to support collaborative activities, as well as the impact of digital collaboration technologies on users, groups, organizations and society. It has been held biennially since 1986, and is sponsored by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)'s Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI).

The <extref href="http://www.cscw2006.org/">Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW)</extref> is a forum <emph render="doublequote">for presenting and discussing research and development achievements concerning the use of computer technologies to support collaborative activities, as well as the impact of digital collaboration technologies on users, groups, organizations and society.</emph> It has been held biennially since 1986, and is sponsored by the <extref href="http://www.acm.org/">Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)</extref>'s <extref href="http://sigchi.org/">Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI)</extref>.</p>

<p>CSCW's parent organization is the <extref href="http://www.acm.org/">Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)</extref>, the world's first computing society. ACM serves as an umbrella organization for information-technology professionals.
